1961 – Fr. J.J. Hennessey arrives on campus and remains until 1972.

1963 – Saint Mary’s High School closes!

1963 – Football Huskies end season with six consecutive wins without having a single point scored on them.

1964 – SMU Football Huskies defeat ST. FX 9-8 ending X’s 47 game win streak and advancing to the Atlantic Bowl defeating MacMaster 15 -1. This was SMU’s first Atlantic Bowl Victory.
The football Huskies would have four players selected to the inaugural All-Canadian Team : Bob Ruotolo, Frank Archambault, C. Donald Murphy & Paul Puma.

1964 – Jocelyn Grassby, becomes first full time female student to graduate from SMU.

1964 – Alumni Arena opens.

1968 – Saint Mary’s becomes co-educational.

1968 - Men's CIAU Basketball Tournament, Huskie basketball player Al Brown recorded a record setting twenty-four rebounds against the University of Western Ontario. Al was selected to the All Tournament All Start Team. His rebound record has yet to be broken.

1969 – Huskie Stadium is opened for the Canada Summer Games.

1967 – 1970 – Fr. Henry Labelle SJ – last Jesuit President of SMU.
